 As of October 08 we have upgraded our $4 a day
regular single speed coaster brake bicycle fleet with aluminum frame alloy
wheel "cruiser" style bikes, some have 3 speed gears a $75 cash or credit
card deposit is required for these bikes.
These bikes are intended for the flatter areas of Hilo to Downtown and the Mall.
We have a Trek "Rock Shox" and a "Specialized" mountain bikes, all
for between $5 and $7 a day rent. We even have a couple of kids bikes which
are free when accompanied by a paying adult renter. We will also shortly
have at least one or two good quality disc braked "Pro Grade" bike for
the occasional guest who wants to take a shot at our mountains or more
challenging trails. These will rent for $25 a day with a deposit reflective
of their value.
All come with a good durable chain lock. None of our bikes are equipped
for, nor allowed to be used, after dark.
 All bikes must be returned to their rack daily before dark
and be available for general use the next day unless you pay in advance to hold a specific bike.
As with all such rentals, it is your total responsibility to check out
the bike thoroughly before using it, we accept no liability whatever for any
accident or injury due to use of these bikes. We often have no opportunity to
check them out between rentals. A $75 (or greater for special bikes) cash or
credit card deposit will be "held" against return of the bike in good condition.
Damages, bent wheels and other broken parts will be deducted from your deposit,
up to the full amount. This is standard in all such "high risk" rentals. You are
also responsible to return bikes to our Lodge, we have no ability to send
vehicles to pick you up for punctures or damages.
 Due to modern concepts of personal hygiene we have a small
collection of helmets, but Hawaii law does not require them so it is at your
discretion. Wal-Mart has inexpensive safety equipment.
